3dfx
who? - Posted by Ckaoz
3dfx,
the company that pretty much started the 3D revolution in PCs, and redefined
gamin as we know it today has bowed out of the chip making market. They
sold a their assets to nVidia. I still am amazed at his announcement and
have only one thing to say, which is what you are probably thinking....holy
shit! Check out the full announcement,
here is a blurb:
In an effort
to protect its creditors and maximize shareholder value, 3dfx Interactive,
Inc. (Nasdaq: TDFX
- news) announced today
that it will substantially reduce all of its workforce as part of an
initiative to significantly reduce expenses. In addition, the company
said its Board of Directors will recommend to its shareholders that
they approve the sale of most of the company's assets to NVIDIA Corporation
(Nasdaq: NVDA-
news) as outlined in
a definitive agreement between the companies that was signed today,
and also approve a plan to dissolve the company following completion
of the asset sale.

There
is still a lot of stuff on the horizon on this website as well as a lot
of changes. If you have any questions/suggestions feel free to email me.
I have been pretty busy the past day as I was checking out a few things
on in the gaming world. Which reminds me, if anyone hasn't checked out Croteam's
new test build of their latest game Serious Sam, then I would advise you
to! It comes at a whopping 72 MB and can be downloaded here!
This thing is amazing and reminds me so much of the original Doom. Except
for the better sound and graphics :P Also
stay tuned to check out more reviews and tips posted up ASAP!!

An
interesting little freeware game is out by the guys at FreeForm Interactive
LLC called G-Sector. Grab the download and learn a little more about it:
G-Sector
is an arcade-style 3D action game. G-Sector is based around hoverboard
combat--a hybrid between an "extreme game" and a third-person shooter.
Players control the heroine Cyra as she hoverboards through futuristic
cities and arenas. Gameplay is based on using ramps and tricks to build
velocity and avoid opponents' shots. G-Sector uses the chasecam and
a customizable mouse/keyboard interface.

Firearms
Review - Posted by
Ckaoz
I
just now pimped out a review
for all to see, so I advise you to check this out. It just happens to be
about a little known Half-Life mod called Firearms. If you have only heard
about this game, and have yet to check it out go to the Firearms
page and check it out, here's a nibble of the review:
As gamers
get more prepared for virtual warring worlds where anything goes we
look for substitutes until our ultimate desires are met. This is where
Firearms comes in. The team working on this ongoing project has put
in a lot of effort and hard work to give us gamers a product to enjoy
that mimics war.

Warcraft
III Sneak Peek - Posted
by Ckaoz
Those
girls over at Daily
Radar have gotten a hold of Blizzard for an all out good look at the
upcoming and highly anticipated 3D RTRPG Warcraft III. Here is a bit:
We recently
had a chance to take a look at Warcraft III up close and talk to Blizzard's
15th level arch-producer Rob Pardo about the game. One thing Rob made
clear to us was that Blizzard is a company that has always had a very
organic process of developing games. "We don't just start with a 300-page
design doc," he told us, "instead we use a lot of trial and error."
That means that some of the features that supposedly vanished may reappear,
and some that are in now may morph into something else -- but here's
what we know now.

What?
The site updated?! OK, so maybe I update this mug everyday and its not really
new, I can't say I have added much but a few underlying enhancements for
me on this website today. My partner Bugsy
has dished out some poop on Firearms
that he will be adding to somewhat regularly. If you haven't heard of Firearms
its happens to be a badass mod created for the Half-life game. Haven't heard
of Half-life? Well, its time to crawl back to your cave because I don't
like talking to ya! Check out his first installment of strategy here.
I will be following up soon with my review.

NVIDIA
getting sued?? - Posted
by Ckaoz
As
most of you don't really want to look at this quarterly
report for NVIDIA as it seems about as fun as cleaning up your own vomit
after a party night before, if you check deep into the report there is a
hint that RAMBUS may sure NVIDIA for copyright infringement. Here is the
quote:
"We
have been advised by Rambus Inc. that it believes our products infringe
certain patents owned by Rambus and requesting that we agree to certain
licensing terms, including royalty payments. We believe the Rambus patents
are invalid, not infringed and unenforceable. Although we currently
are having discussions with Rambus regarding potential business alternatives
to Rambus' proposed licensing terms, we cannot guarantee that we will
be able to reach a satisfactory agreement with Rambus. If we are unable
to do so, Rambus may sue us for patent infringement at any time."

Word
on the street is out about Intel's new plans on how to milk the most out
of silicon based CPU's. They have now invented the world's smallest fastest
transistor for a CPU and plan to develop it into their plans. You will probably
see these bad boys in action 5 - 10 years from now but hey, its good to
plan for the future. Check the articles about Intel's new CPU at Sharky
Extreme, The

Editorials

I
can't say much is new on the website today, I got stuck on some previous
issues. I will be updating this mug everyday so keep posted here at the
news for all your gaming goodness. I updated our links
section so check out that area for some great sites. I will be putting
more into that soon as well. I have also decided that sooner or later
I will be dishing out an editorials section that I will more than likely
update with a new editorial every month on the state of the gaming world.
As soon as the site gets full blown I will be updating with the latest
in toady's gaming news and put out my email for you to keep in touch with
me on any issue. Keep posted here for more!

Ok, I know
I'm behind the times, but I never could find the site for this amazing
demo! If you have a graphics card with the Nvidia GeForce 256 or higher
check out WXP for an amazing demo/demos
of what your graphics card can push out. I fired up this demo only to
take a look at some awe inspiring graphics, making me wonder, why don't
all games look this amazing! Try it out.

Because
I am a kind man, I have also decided to add a tiny more meat to the website.
The Sacrafice review is
out, take a look at this budding game as I highly recommend this instant
classic. Here's a blurb from the review:
The graphics
and sound are amazing in game and are some of the best ever seen.
Even the screenshots don't do this game any justice compared to seeing
it in real time. There are a variety of terrains from lush forest's
to dry deserts. There are options to tone down the graphics for those
with low-level machines. But if you have the horsepower be prepared
to stare in awe at the gorgeous scenery Shiny has pimped out for this
game. The voice over acting is also quite refreshing because as of
late voice over acting seems to be a bit lax in most games.

One
of the first reviews up
on the site is for the amazing Sea Dogs pirate adventure. Not to spoil
too much of the review here's a nibble:
From
the far reaches of a game genre that was almost lost comes Sea Dogs,
reminiscent of the games of old like Sid Meier's Pirates! or one of
my personal favorites Privateer ( from the Wing Commander Series ).
This game is abound with all the pirating goodies of old from pillaging
towns, to capturing ships and taking all their goods. And if you are
heartless enough to your crew, a mutiny is in store. Saturated with
a nonlinear storyline the game sucks you in offering hours of gaming
goodness.

End Gamer is officially on the internet with more to come. We will be
adding more material daily for as this is just the beginning for this
budding site. In store are more reviews of the hottest titles and latest
releases. Reviews of some of the best hardware to buy and the hardware
you don't. Also in store we have previews news and much more. It will
be a slow start as we get things prepared as most of the pages are still
under construction. Take a look inside and keep coming because there is
more in store!
